Here is my story I had been out the last couple of weekends with my girlfriend {she was the one actually looking for a car to buy I was there to kick tires etc..} and we went to this one hole in the wall lot up on 27th street. This guy had a bunch of trucks and some cars anyway I see the Z kinda dusty off to the side didn’t know what she was but I was drawn to her and that hadn’t happened to me about a car I could possibly afford ever I have owned nothing but “beaters with heaters” up to this point. I see it is a Nissan and just out of curiosity I ask him what he wants for her, it was too much so that was it for me, on to the next lot. So some weeks pass, my girl and I are in now deep in this routine of making rounds to these car lots (mainly because she is cheap and didn’t want to pay much for a car but wanted something reliable two things that usually are not found together in this town of worn out high mileage used cars) and in a couple of weeks we wound up back at the lot the Z was at. This time she was washed and lookin good I ask about the price and now the guy is actually in my range I lost my poker face and he saw it I think because he offered a test drive the next day if I had time to come by. I took him up on his offer. I had been on TT.net and Consumerguide.com (which didn’t giver her a very good review on the practical stuff but I was intrigued by her looks) the night before so I had a head full of things to check on the test drive{hood lines up, injectors ticking, leaks, smoke, and all the stuff that had broke on my beaters etc…} I got that puppy around the corner onto Camelback and let her loose she put me back in the seat …………that is all it took I was hooked I did check some things as much as a lay person can on a Z. I bought her that day December 6th of 2005. Then I ran a Carfax that night [yeah I know …..] I am the third owner she was in NY and PA here first 40K and has been in AZ since. I drove her straight home that night and to Brown&Brown Nissan that Saturday the 10th. Checkbook mechanic strikes again, 120k, front brakes, radiator hoses, belts, plugs, oil, tranny fluid, rear main, front seal on tranny, new alternator, diff fluid, rack n pinion boots, tie rod ends, and flywheel bolts. Very expensive route to go gents. After that prison rape I started doing stuff myself I bought a FSM and did the pcv hoses, new tranny mount, slave cylinder, repainted my engine cowl, painted my calipers, MT-90ed the tranny with new drain and fill plugs, also my own oil changes. Since her first night in my garage I have been a Z nut ever since. Just reading up on the rich history of the Z car, Nissan, and becoming a part of the Z community. Wanted to go to Zcon but didn’t think my car would be ready to drive that far but I did make it to orange for the Motorsport auto Zcar nationals instead.
